Go-onger Mega Torrent

Here it is: a torrent of the entire series plus specials. The scripts are included too. And with this, I'm finished! I'm not sure if I'm ever going to get around to reuploading everything for DDL, so grab the torrent while you can.

Edit: The seedbox doesn't want to connect to anyone for whatever reason so it's going to take a long time to get this seeded.

EDIT 2: I think I finally worked out the kinks, so remove the old torrent file and grab the new one above. You don't have to rename or move anything, just download the new .torrent file. This way it shouldn't take a week to finish initial seeding from my home connection.

EDIT 3: DDLs are available at krdl.info if torrents ain't your thang.

SHOW ME YOUR MOVES

It's the obligatory clip show! Out of all the endings G5 Prince Lap is def. my favorite. It's new wave-ish.

Anyway, the way TVN handled the G5 Prince song really annoyed me. They left in all the onomatopoeias and added a note for about half of them. Of course, there are hundreds of weird-ass onomatopoeias in Japanese that don't have an equivalent in English (like staring or blinking), but that doesn't mean there's nothing you can do with them. Using a verb gets the point across just fine. So I took the line "Gyutto With You (TL Note: Gyutto = sound of something being tight)" and changed it to "Squeezing You." And all the others were changed into words that people can understand.

Go-onger Kodansha Special DVD

I went with Ladyheartdes for Kokorootomedes in this special since there was a joke that would take a note to explain and I didn't want to do that.
This script works with (RAW) Engine Sentai Go-Onger Special DVD - Seminar da yo! Zen'in GO-ON! (DVD WMV9 QL93 856x480 24fps) [5F2EAB87].avi if you already have that.

I can't remember if Saki ever spoke to Hiroto directly in earlier episodes, but this episode made it a deal where it's explicitly acknowledged that she refers to him as "Hiroto-san". I changed it to "Mr. Suto" in this episode, but if she did call him "Hiroto-san" in earlier episodes, I'm sure I just left it as Hiroto.

A punch in the face? Oh, you shouldn't have!

Kireizky has some Golgo 13 vibes. He even quotes him with the "dominant hand" and "don't stand behind me" lines. Though sniping with a shotgun doesn't seem like it'd be all that effective...
He also references Mister Rerere from Tensai Bakabon— Though he says "rururu no ru" instead of "rerere no re". The only reason for the reference is that Mister Rerere likes to sweep, I guess. I just changed it to "Oh ho ho" since it's not a huge deal.

nothing to see here

Well this episode is just adorable! I went with "Shorty" instead of Chibi for the creature's nickname.

I forgot to mention that this episode and ep. 39 directly tie into the movie, so you may want to watch that first.

I knew I couldn't trust that AkaRed

Retsutaka? Retsutaka? Retsutaka?

It's definitely a minuscule thing, but I was fairly annoyed they used the Japanese onomatopoeia of a train instead of "choo-choo".

hot

There was a pun in this episode involving "hashi" (chopsticks/bridge) that I really struggled with. I think the solution I came up with is pretty stilted, so I commented out the original lines in case anyone wants to change them back. Just open the sub file and delete the brackets.

Engine Banki makes references to Truck Yarou movie titles all throughout this episode. I briefly considered substituting them with some American car movies, but I figured it wasn't a big enough deal to do that.

Chocolate Sosuke

This is one of my favorite episodes. I especially like Renn fighting with his frying pan!

IT'S HUGE AND AWESOME

There was a pretty blatant error with an attack name in this episode, pretty much anyone who watched it would've caught it. G12's attack, "G12 Punch" was subbed as "Tricera punch".

It didn't even punch with the tricera arm.

I have to give TVN credit for actually changing up dialogue when the characters are speaking in a different dialect in this episode. I can't think of any other time they've done that.

TVN had Drill Banki's death phrase as "Doridoru-sensei's mysterious journey". Doritoru-sensei is more commonly know to the English-speaking world as Doctor Dolittle. I'm inclined to believe they left it that way because they couldn't be bothered to do a minute of research since they didn't even get the romaji right.

Here's the blatant marketing episode

There was a line in TVN's subs at the end of this episode that left me scratching my head the first time I watched it (and it still does). It was, "I thought the 4 of us could get rid of the M's". I actually went and Googled it, thinking it was some idiom I've never heard of. Of course, nothing turned up.
So after some research, I found out the line was about "M Sute", which is an abbreviation of the show Music Station. I don't know how anyone could've looked at that original line and thought, "yeah, that makes sense."

And I considered substituting MTV for Music Station, but MTV doesn't play music any more, har har.

I really wish they would have used Engines inside Go-Roader GT more. I think only two of them did by the end of the show?

I'm pretty sick of every character being written to say "you guys". At least it's not -tachi, I guess.

No, you're under arrest!

In this episode's Go-on Seminar, they reference detectives from other shows: Jiipan from Taiyou ni Hoero and Hamidashi from Hamidashi Keiji Jounetsu Kei. I replaced them with "Sherlock" and "Columbo" since the orginals are beyond obscure to an English-speaking audience and I doubt more than a few would get it.

I just wanted to share this screenshot. Good grief.
